Donna Lavelle was born in Paris, France, but has never spoken with a French accent. Her family moved several months after her birth, so Donna grew up in New York, USA. For her, joining the Fleet was a perfect opertunity. She had always been facinated by the oceans of Earth, and how little was known about them compared to the oceans on other planets, which had been vastly explored. Donna went to the training acadamy on her 16th birthday, and studied there for three years. She gradutated in 2150, and due to a number of brilliant reports from her teachers and her first captain, Donna soon became the second in command of the F.S. Nija in 2153. She served under Captain Lucas for three years, before being transefered to the F.S. Planitarium. It was here she first met Stuart Attridge . Lavelle joined the crew of the 'Eternal' on their voyages through the oceans of Trinal until the crew returned home. Along with Attridge and the engineer Mike McCulper , Donna was reasigned to the W.F.S Explorer. The war with the Trimuns was a very hard time for her, after a close personal friend (read the book to find out who) was killed, she spiralled into depression and insanity, culminating in her incarceration in a secure unit controlled by the Sea Police.
